Save the Nation attended The Eighth Global Meeting of Nongovernmental Organizations Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims in San Salvador, El Salvador

Save the Nation attended The Eighth Global Meeting of Nongovernmental Organizations Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims in San Salvador, El Salvador. The meeting brought together 214 participants from 61 countries, addressing the theme “Rethinking road safety: Mobility for people and planet.” Road crashes cause 1.3 million preventable deaths and around 50 million injuries annually worldwide. UN Member States are committed to reducing road deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030, and the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030 outlines actions to achieve this. Save the Nation calls on governments to prioritize evidence-based actions, transparent investment in safe mobility, and NGO involvement in decision-making processes to achieve the target. The organization commits to advocating for people’s right to safe mobility and a 50% reduction in road deaths and injuries by 2030 by empowering communities, using data and evidence, and holding governments accountable.

Workshop with the theme ‘Road Safety and Urban Mobility’ was held in Accra from 20th – 21th August 2018 A team of two delegates attended the programme on behalf of Save the Naton. The topic and workshop was on SDG 11, on sustainable, safe, inclusive, cities and communities.

MEMPHIS, US, 1 September 2016 —  the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety graduated its first Alliance Advocate cohort. Save the Nation Executive Director Mr. Mesganaw Bimrew attended the training.

Save the Nation Participated in Stakeholders validate report on Ethiopia’s road safety performance review.

Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia presided over a workshop to validate a report on the road safety performance review of Ethiopia on 14 January 2020 at the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa. Two delegates attended the programme on behalf of Save the Naton. The review was undertaken jointly by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Secretariat of the United Nation Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Mr. Jean Todt, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

Save the Nation were in Uganda On invitation of Ugandan Dept Network (UDN) A  Ugandan Civil Society Organization (NGO) ; Save the Nation Executive Director Mr. Mesganaw Bimrew presented  SNA for this PAN African Conference, financing alternatives for health and road sectors beyond borrowing. There was a representative from different African Countries including Uganda.

SNA Share the best practice in Ethiopia at the workshop strategies for reducing the cost of road infrastructure projects in Africa lessons from Ethiopia.

Road safety experience in collaboration with federal police commission traffic affairs division and IRSA the international road safety academy.

The international road traffic safety academy IRSA has held an experience sharing form with federal police commission traffic affairs division on October, 10-2016. SNA and various other stakeholders has attended the form. Team of Save the Nation has attended the form.
